What is the difference between Indian and the Philippines medical degrees?

The Philippine educational system is majorly practical medical learning and computer-based multiple-choice questions examinations. And the evaluation system is objectively based, which is in contrast to the Indian school or college level evaluation system. As the competitive exam model followed in India, it is beneficial for the students to crack FMGE or any other national-level qualifying examination.

The cost of fees paid per year to study MBBS in a medical college in India is an immense amount to be spent on a medical degree, food and accommodation for the entire 5.6 - 5.8 years in the Philippines.

Should I clear any language examination to study in the Philippines?

No, As the local population speaks English in the country, there is no need to clear any language examinations like TOFEL or ILETS to study in the Philippines.

Is NEET compulsory?
Yes, an eligible mark in NEET is compulsory and the essential requirement for the Indian students to study MBBS, BDS and P.G. in medicine, in any medical institution in India and abroad.
How is the NEET score calculated?

The students appearing for NEET can calculate their NEET score by themselves with the help of the answer key.

They can arrive at the most likely the exact NEET marks by verifying their given answers with the correct answers in the answer key. The marking scheme used by the National Testing Agency (NTA) to evaluate the NEET answer sheets, 2020 is mentioned below,

  • For each correct answer given by the student, 4 marks are awarded. · 1 mark is deducted for each wrong answer given by the student from the cumulative scores he/she has obtained
  • No mark is deducted for the un-answered questions, and the questions answered more than 1 option
  • Overall total number questions asked in the NEET exam is 180 and as 4 marks are awarded for each answered correctly question, the total NEET score is 180 x 4 = 720 marks.
  • So, the student can calculate his/her anticipated score using the formula given below, NEET score = (total number of correct answers given x 4) – (total number of wrong answers given x 1)
What is the NEET percentile score?
NEET percentile score is the minimum score to be obtained by the candidates in NEET. The NEET percentile score of a candidate is determined by comparing his/her NEET rank with the ranks obtained by other candidates. All India NEET rank is calculated based on the NEET score obtained by all the NEET candidates.
